Global warming

The planet's climate is constantly changing. Significant fluctuations of global average temperatures can be seen over geological time.
The recent period has brought a more rapid warming than any past period, due to humanity releasing heat-trapping gases (commonly referred to as greenhouse gases).
The problem with global warming is that it's happening too fast for living things to adapt to it.
The effect is not only an increase in temperatures, but also extreme weather events, rising sea level and shifting or dissapearing of wildlife habitats.
We understand the impact of global warming on our lives and our world, but the main concern is the devastation it will cause for our world in the future, which makes it an urgent human rights issue.
Failure of governments to act and reduce climate change, although the scientific evidence is overwhelming, is the biggest inter-generational human rights violation in history.
